A trench drain fails at its edges, not in the middle. The channel itself rarely fails; what fails is a frame that was set proud of the slab and got caught by a plow, or a frame with no concrete haunch under it that worked loose under wheel loads until the surrounding slab broke out around it. So the work that matters is the setting: channel staked and anchored so it cannot float during the pour, frame held dead flush with or a touch below finished concrete, haunched with concrete on both sides to carry the traffic load, and a grate rated for what actually drives over it.
