A residential slab spreads a light, even load. An equipment pad does the opposite: it carries the whole weight of a machine through a few small feet or skids, takes vibration while that machine runs, and gets loaded and unloaded by something on steel tracks. That is why equipment pads are a thicker, heavily reinforced section on a proof-rolled base, with the anchor bolts and conduit stub-ups set to the equipment's own template before the concrete goes down. Get the section and the subgrade right and the pad outlasts the equipment on it. Get them wrong and it cracks at the feet in the first year.
