Sports Courts done right

A sport court is a very unforgiving piece of flatwork. It has to be flat enough that the ball bounces the same at both ends, sloped enough that it sheds water instead of holding puddles, and built well enough that a New England winter doesn't run a crack straight through the playing surface. We do the part that decides all of that: the excavation, the compacted sub-base, the reinforced pad poured to a single-plane pitch of roughly one inch in ten feet, and the sleeves and footings for net posts, hoops, fence, and lighting. From there the pad takes an acrylic color system, cushioned surfacing, or modular tile, striped for one sport or several.

Method & materials

How we approach sports courts

Excavation and a compacted, drained sub-base sized to the soil on site rather than a standard number.
Reinforced concrete pad poured to a single-plane pitch, roughly one inch per ten feet, so water sheets off instead of ponding.
Control joints laid out on the court lines, where they're least visible and least in play.
Sleeves and footings set for net posts, hoops, fence posts, and lighting conduit before the pour, not drilled in after.
Surfacing in acrylic color coat, cushioned acrylic, or modular tile, then striped for the sport.
