Tennis Courts done right

A tennis court is the least forgiving flatwork there is. The doubles court is 78 by 36 feet, and the standard pad around it runs about 60 by 120 so there's real run-back behind the baselines and side room beside the alleys. Every foot of it has to be flat enough that the bounce doesn't change from one end to the other, and pitched on a single plane, roughly one inch in ten feet, so water sheets off in one direction rather than pooling in the backcourt. We handle the excavation, the engineered base, the reinforced pad, the net post and fence footings, and we resurface existing courts that have gone chalky or started to crack.

Method & materials

How we approach tennis courts

Excavation and an engineered, compacted sub-base sized to the soil conditions on site.
Reinforced concrete pad, typically 60 by 120 feet around the 78 by 36 foot doubles court.
Single-plane pitch of about one inch per ten feet, so water sheets off one way with no low spots.
Net post sleeves set before the pour for a net 42 inches at the posts and 36 inches at center, plus fence and lighting footings.
Acrylic or cushioned acrylic color system with regulation striping; crack repair and resurfacing on existing courts.
